Good Academic Standing
Learn about the criteria for Good Academic Standing in the College.
What are the College’s criteria for Good Academic Standing?
Full-time students are in Good Academic Standing at the end of a semester if, in that semester, they completed at least 12 credits of coursework, earned a minimum GPA of 1.800, and have no more than one grade below C- (NC and U count as grades below C-).
Full-time students on an approved Reduced Course Load are in Good Academic Standing at the end of a semester if, in that semester they earned a minimum GPA of 1.8 and have no more than one grade below C- (NC and U count as grades below C-). Students can be approved for a Reduced Course Load (7-11 credits) by the Student Disability Access Center or, if they are in their last semester, by their Advising Dean.
Part-time students (6 or fewer credits) are in Good Academic Standing if they achieve at least a 1.800 grade point average for the semester.
What is Academic Warning?

What else do I need know about making good academic progress?
The College has some other policies designed to keep students on track to earn their degrees:
To enroll for a 5th semester, students are expected to have earned at least 54 credits—approved summer, transfer, AP, IB and dual enrollment credits can count toward this total.
To enroll for a 7th semester, students are expected to have earned at least 84 credits—approved summer, transfer, AP, IB and dual enrollment credits can count toward this total.
Students must declare or defer a major at the end of the 4th semester. No student may begin a 6th full-time semester without a declared major on record in SIS.
Students are expected to complete their degrees in no more than 8 full-time semesters (fall/spring) and may only enroll in a 9th semester under special circumstances. Transfer students have proportionately fewer semesters depending on the number of semesters completed prior to admission. College students are permitted to take up to 16 credits on a part-time basis toward the degree.
