Headshot of Sean Reid

As an advisor and teacher, I am dedicated to fostering the development of informed, open-minded, and engaged global citizens. It is my belief that the liberal arts cultivate intellectual skills that help us challenge our assumptions and compassionately explore the world we share. I draw extensively on my interdisciplinary background in my approach to student advising.

My research interests center on the archaeology of West Africa and the African diaspora. In the context of my anthropological and archaeological research, I have collaborated with scholars in disciplines across the sciences and humanities. I also have over a decade of university and liberal arts college teaching experience across a range of subjects including archaeology, cultural anthropology, biological anthropology, medical anthropology, African and African American Studies, and interdisciplinary approaches to globalization. I am currently teaching Engagements classes in the Differences (Africa Is Not A Country) and Empirical (Bones and Burials) pillars.
