My academic career has been devoted to figuring out how we can forge stronger interpersonal connections and be more receptive to those we encounter in our day-to-day lives. As a result, I work to learn what motivates my students, what they value and care about, and even what trips them up—both inside and outside of the classroom. Getting to know my advisees as people expands my capacity to help them reach their academic goals and navigate college life. Students can expect me to ask them lots of questions (some of which might get them to think a little bit differently), listen attentively, and, above all else, support them.
Some of my favorite experiences at UVA have been teaching first-year writing and in the Engagements program and advising study abroad programs in London. Prior to earning my PhD in English Literature at UVA, I received my MA in English from Boston College and my BA (Honors) from Villanova University, where I was also a member of their Division I field hockey team. When I’m not on Grounds, you can find me reading novels, playing pickleball, or watching the latest season of Survivor.
