Andrew Jacobs

Believe it or not, I have been advising first- and second-year students since I was a college senior: navigating the wild and exciting world of the liberal arts has been an abiding interest of mine for decades. At UVA I help students take charge of their own academic journey while keeping you open to exploration. I am a resource for things you might not know and a sounding board for things you are figuring out on your own. One of my goals on your road to your major and graduation is to help you slow down: you will arrive on grounds with excitement and energy to propel you forward (which is terrific!), but we also want to make sure you don’t miss out on surprising intellectual adventures you might not have another chance to take. My academic background in religious studies and the ancient world has taught me there are unfamiliar corners of the liberal arts that will enchant and amaze you no matter what your ultimate academic and professional plans are. I am here to help you find those amazing corners while helping you stay on track.
