Headshot of Andrew Ferguson

As someone who first joined UVA in 2010 (and has been coming to Charlottesville for concerts for quite a few years more), I have met, taught, and learned from many Hoos, each in the process of figuring out what a UVA education and experience means to them. I’m eager to work with students to figure out their strengths, pursue their dreams, and craft their own individual stories. At the same time, as both an advisor and and English Literature PhD, I’m aware that stories quite often have twists or glitches that couldn’t possibly have been foreseen, and I’m here to help navigate times of uncertainty and struggle as well. My goal is to provide a caring, welcoming, neurodiverse-friendly environment where students can learn more about the school, more about their subjects, and more about themselves. When I’m not advising, I’m probably teaching or at least thinking about videogames, video art, science fiction, or conspiracy culture.
