Hoos Focused

Welcome to Hoos Focused!
Fridays at 1 p.m.
204 Clemons
Fall semester; 8/29 - 12/5
We are a drop-in group with the goal of supporting students who struggle with concentration, organization and/or focus. Our group is open to both undergraduate and graduate students from all UVA schools and co-led by Dr. Elaine Bailey (SDAC) and Christy Rotman. Consider joining us consistently or just drop in on weeks you are available.
Each meeting will begin with a moment of mindfulness, followed by a resource or content for discussion. Open dialogue and strategy exchange are welcome and we encourage students to use the group for increased accountability. Feel free to contact us with any questions or comments. Join us on Friday afternoons at 1 p.m. to learn strategies for success and to connect with other students! We look forward to meeting you!
What are students saying?
"Hoos Focused Group Meeting is a great support system for people with ADHD. Mentors provide valuable inputs in figuring out solutions for academic as well as everyday problems. It can also be really relieving and helpful to hear other peers share their struggles and coping mechanisms." - participating graduate student
“I can't express enough how much the Hoos Focused support has meant to me during my time at UVA. It's been such a safe space for me to build a stronger sense of self-acceptance and to develop more holistic practices that work with, not against, all the ways ADHD/neurodivergence impacts my life. My undergraduate career hasn't been easy but Hoos Focused always remained something I truly looked forward to each semester.” – Annemarieke, 4th year undergraduate student
