College of Arts & Sciences Deans' Scholarships

These scholarship opportunities are available to undergraduate students who are currently enrolled as full-time students in the College of Arts & Sciences. Recently admitted students, please look to Student Financial Services and the UVa Alumni Association for scholarships and other financial aid.

Deans’ Scholarships

The College of Arts & Sciences Deans’ Scholarship recipients are announced in the summer. Scholarships are awarded for the following academic year, and are distributed in the fall and spring semesters. Students must be in residence at the University of Virginia and enrolled full-time to receive scholarship funds in any given semester.

Applications are due April 15th annually.

Please check back at this web page in March for application instructions (application submission period runs March 15 - April 15 and is done online through Academic Works.)

Kenneth N. and Barbara B. Adatto Scholarship 1, 2, 3, 4 Must be resident of Louisiana. Preference is given to Echols Scholars.
Quality, inventiveness and integrity of academic program and intellectual life. Contribution to University academic community.

Alanen-Tyska Scholarship 1, 2, 3 Currently receiving need-based aid through Student Financial Services.
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.400.
Outstanding academic achievement, record of outstanding service to others.

Paul B. Barringer II 2, 3 Preference to students from South Carolina.

Corydon M. and Ruth Leigh Johnson Scholarship 2, 3 Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.800 or higher.

Deborah Kane Scholarship 3 Humanities or social sciences major.
Student travelling overseas to pursue an educational experience. Preference to “untraveled” students wishing to study in Mexico, Central America or South America.

Lawrence Harrison Kilmon and May Lewis Kilmon 1, 2, 3 Major in the "hard sciences," including physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy and environmental sciences.
